Event Description

Institutions, both public and private, have struggled to create policies and procedures that fit their unique organizations. In today’s litigious and regulatory environment where compliance is a major focus, the creation and maintenance of strong and proper policies and procedures is increasingly relevant. In addition, it is important for administrators to understand that there are several issues, campus groups, job functions, campus politics, and academic considerations that are specific to individual institutions and must be looked at during the creation process. One policy does not fit all. What works at one college may have disastrous effects at another.

This presentation will focus on how to build proper policies and procedures from an institutional and departmental perspective. Participants will learn that the process of building unique policies and procedures is a crucial component of successful departments, as well as institutions at large. Effective planning strategies and review processes will also be discussed.
