Institutions, both public and private, have struggled to create policies and procedures that fit their unique organizations. In today’s litigious and regulatory environment where compliance is a major focus, the creation and maintenance of strong and proper policies and procedures is increasingly relevant. In addition, it is important for administrators to understand that there are several issues, campus groups, job functions, campus politics, and academic considerations that are specific to individual institutions and must be looked at during the creation process.
