I'm not sure how many people are aware of the advancements in school bell controllers these days, and how they can simplify and add flexibility to the important tasks of ringing the bell. Lots of schools have an automatic school bell timer that rings each day at the same times or maybe has two different programs for wet and dry days, but there is so much more available nowadays. It is possible to have your bell schedules programmed up for an entire term/semester or even a full year ahead. You don't need to stand next to the bell button anymore, waiting for exactly 12 o'clock then hold the button for 5 seconds. Some good systems now include special functions for "civil alert" and "crazy man" situations. The Bellminder controller is an excellent example of modern technology used to simplify a task that has in the past been done primarily by someone watching a clock then ringing a hand bell or pressing a button. One of the benefits of the system is that the unit doesn't "forget" to ring the bell,it doesn't take sick days, and nature never calls it at the entirely wrong moment ;) Ok, if you're a headmaster or school administrator or even just someone looking to improve the system at your school then I would recommend having a look at the Bellminder. www.bellminder.com
